An Enchanted Hill, My Perspective
Hearst Castle is a place that feels larger than life, a landmark so grand it’s almost a character in itself. This photograph, taken from the front, is my tribute to its timeless beauty. When I captured this image, I wasn’t just trying to get a postcard-perfect shot; I was trying to convey the feeling of standing there, looking up at this magnificent structure.
There’s something about the front facade that immediately transports you. The grand, Spanish-inspired architecture and the sheer scale of the building speak to the vision of William Randolph Hearst and the incredible talent of architect Julia Morgan. I love how the intricate details of the towers and the main entrance give way to the sprawling landscape that surrounds it.
I’ve been thinking about whether to use this photo, as it’s a popular subject, but I believe it stands on its own. It’s a personal memento of a visit to “La Cuesta Encantada”—The Enchanted Hill—and it tells a story of my own appreciation for this historic and breathtaking place.
