The Twin Sentinels of Mount Diablo
There’s a unique perspective to be found when looking at a familiar landmark from a distance. This photograph, taken from Grizzly Island in Solano County, offers just that, framing the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Diablo.
Using a 50mm lens on my Nikon D610, I wanted to capture the mountain’s grandeur from this remote vantage point. The fast shutter speed of 1/1250 at F4 was perfect for freezing the moment and highlighting the distinct dual peaks against the sky. From here, Mount Diablo feels less like a single mountain and more like two powerful sentinels, standing watch over the landscape.
This image, with its subtle layers and atmospheric perspective, speaks to the quiet beauty of the region. It’s a reminder that even from miles away, the presence of a natural landmark can be both a powerful anchor and a stunning focal point.
