About Jason Wilkerson

A little about me: I was born and raised on the picturesque Central Coast of California, specifically in the Grover Beach area. Growing up amidst the stunning landscapes of the Central Coast profoundly shaped my artistic eye and deep appreciation for natural beauty. While I now reside in Fairfield, CA, and am eagerly exploring the vibrant and diverse scenery this beautiful Northern California region offers, my roots and a significant part of my inspiration remain tied to the dramatic coastlines and tranquil vistas of my upbringing.

My creative journey began formally with a strong foundation in film and video. I earned an A.S. degree from Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA, specializing in Applied Design Media/Film. Furthering my passion, I spent time at Cal State Northridge, immersing myself in their highly regarded film program with a particular emphasis on cinematography. This extensive background in motion picture has gifted me with a unique understanding of light, composition, and narrative—elements I now bring to every still image I create.

I have since turned my primary focus to still photography as a powerful and immediate means to express my creativity. Whether through the grand sweep of a landscape or the intimate detail of an everyday object, I thoroughly enjoy getting out and capturing subjects that spark my interest in the moment. It’s about preserving the feeling, the atmosphere, and the unique story each scene tells.
